Summer 2013 saw the release of Dour Candy, a collaboration between underground hip-hop luminary Blockhead and then relative-unknown billy woods. It was the first billy woods solo album released on vinyl and only 300 copies were pressed. A lot has changed in the seven years since then, as billy woods had gone on to critical acclaim as a solo artist and as 1/2 of Armand Hammer. Meanwhile, the instrumental version took on a life of it’s own, racking up almost as many digital sales as the original.
Since very few copies were pressed, Dour Candy has become one of billy woods most highly sought albums, with fans demanding a repress for years. Well, we did it and then some! The new Dour Candy repress includes the original album AND the instrumentals, together in a beautiful gatefold with expanded art from London-based illustrator Ashes57. This was Woods first project with a single producer, and he is joined on the mic by Aesop Rock, Open Mike Eagle, Moka Only and ELUCID of Armand Hammer.
